Natural light is inviting and friendly. However, if the sun is shining, it needs to be nice and shady. If it rains, it should stay dry, especially when loading and unloading your luggage. This is what travellers at airports want.
Client requirements must be added to this. Comfort for visitors is good, but at a reasonable price. For their part, the planners and architects want to create a structure that is inspiring in terms of its functionality and emphasises the main aesthetic features.
Membrane and foil constructions for large-scale roof coverings
Texlon brought all these requirements together under one roof at Linz Airport - under a roof with 30 funnel umbrellas, a total surface of 6,000 m2. The umbrellas are coated with PVC membranes. The high-gloss, translucent material is extremely long-lasting, which makes the light-weight construction economic. The short assembly time also contributes to this.
Aesthetics and cost-effectiveness
The covered car park at the airport in Linz is fascinating with its magical light and an alternating colour play. However, the scale was tipped in favour of the Texlon solution due to substantial arguments and specific calculations. The various advantages have not remained hidden to other planners and architects.
The range of possible applications for light-weight constructions is huge - just think of all the car parks for public buildings, shopping centres and companies. Texlon is convinced that it is possible to develop an aesthetically pleasing and economically advantageous solution for all situations, working together with planners and architects.
Texlon as a partner
The company from Giswil/Obwalden plans and builds halls, hangars, textile buildings, roof coverings, membrane and air-inflated structures and other lightweight constructions. The company’s competences range from the planning, production and project management to assembly and maintenance.
